This high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) plate comprises a C18 Silica layer. The Nano-Silica 60 has a surface area of 500 m2/g, mean pore size of 60A, specific pore volume of 0.75 ml/g, particle size of 2-10um, and pH stability of 2-10. The surface has been 100% treated with an octadecyl silane so that it is a reversed phase material. This analytical hard layer is bound to a glass support. Alumina Neutral (pH 6-8) with UV254, analytical, glass backed TLC plates. The coating thickness is 250um and dimensions are 2.5x7.5cm. There are 100 plates per pack. Applications include: terpenes, alkaloids, steroids, aliphatic and aromatic compounds. To ensure sufficient adherence an inert organic binder is added to the aqueous suspension for coating. The aluminum oxide layer has a specific surface of about 200 m2/g (BET) and a pore size of about 60A. To activate the aluminum oxide layer, we recommend heating the TLC plates for 10 minutes at 120C.

Alumina Neutral for TLC has a pH of about 7.4, particle distribution of 5-25um, and a quantity of 1kg. When combined with a binding agent, this alumina can be used for the making of analytical TLC plates. It can also be used in a packed column format for extra high resolution.

Cellulose 300 PEI, polyester backed TLC plates contain fibrous cellulose impregnated with polyethyleneimine. The coating thickness is 100um and dimensions are 20x20cm. There are 25 plates per pack. Applications include: analysis of nucleic acids, and of mutagenic substances with the 32P post-labelling procedure (see Sorbtech Application No. 402260.) Cellulose ion exchange layers are suited for the separation of substances with exchange-active groups. Consequently they are used for the separation of amino acids, peptides, enzymes, nucleic acid constituents (nucleotides, nucleosides) etc. PEI is not a chemically modified cellulose, but a complex of cellulose and poly- ethyleneimine. PEI cellulose is a relatively strong anion exchanger. PEI layers should be stored in a refrigerator at 4C. An important application of CEL 300 PEI is the analysis of mutagenic substances with a 32P postlabelling procedure.

"Silica XG" is a standard grade Silica 60 with a surface area of 500 m2/g, mean pore size of 60A, specific pore volume of 0.75 ml/g, and particle size of 5-17um. The TLC plates contain UV254 fluorescent indicator. This analytical soft layer is bound to an aluminum support. It has a thickness of 200um and dimensions of 5x20cm. There are 50 plates per pack. The Silica XG TLC Plate has outstanding wettability for precise colorization results, even with 100% aqueous detection reagents, and excellent separation efficiency and reproducibility from lot to lot. Cutting the plates is easy and reliable due to an optimized binder system. There is no flaking of silica gel layer. Binder: highly polymeric product, which is stable in almost all organic solvents and resistant towards aggressive visualization reagents; also completely stable in purely aqueous eluents.

Cellulose 300 polyester backed TLC plates. The coating thickness is 100um and dimensions are 5x20cm. There are 50 plates per pack. Applications include: partition chromatography of polar substances such as amino acids, carboxylic acids or carbohydrates. Cellulose is especially used for partition chromatographic separations of polar substances such as amino acids and other carboxylic acids or carbohydrates. Compared to paper chromatography (PC) thin layer chromatography, cellulose offers shorter migration times and more concentrated substance spots resulting in a higher detection sensitivity. TLC plates (CEL 300) are coated with native, fibrous cellulose.
